Apple released its two-step verification in mainland China and some other regions or countries. I’ll make a brief introduction about how to keep the whole process safe.
There’re three major elements in this process: your Apple ID, your trusted device and your recovery code.
Since the original logging in process only requires the former two elements, with the coming of the third element, you need to know how to keep the safety of your Apple ID.

Apple ID & Trusted Device
- Go to My Apple ID.
- Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your password and trusted device.
- Select Password and Security.
- Under Recovery Key, select Replace Lost Key.
Apple ID Recovery Code
- If you can't access any of your trusted devices, you can still access your account using your password and Recovery Key. You should then verify a new trusted device as soon as possible.
Trusted Device Recovery Code
- You can reset it at My Apple ID using your Recovery Key and one of your trusted devices.
[You need to at least keep the safety of two elements. ]
Possible side effect:
Once you start using this service, you must especially keep the safety of your trusted device and recovery code. Originally, you still have your Apple ID, you can log in. Whereas, now you will be locked out of Apple ID permanently.
Why I mention this?
Two-step verification is an approach to keep your Apple ID SAFER. However, you lost Apple ID and trusted devices or Apple ID and verification code, you will be locked out of your Apple ID permanently as well. In these two cases, with what you still have, before you turn on two-step verification, you can’t log in. But the above case is more ironical. Turn on two-step verification makes you need to set up a new Apple ID.
Since you choose to turn on this service, be responsible to yourself.
